Energy Wheel scan card
Scan the task against all ten energies at the pre-task brief. For each one ask: is this energy present in this task, and could it seriously hurt someone? For every yes, name the direct control and who verifies it before work starts.
Ticks stay on this screen only. Nothing is saved or sent.
High-energy trigger: 1500 joules, about 1106 foot-pounds. At or above it, expect serious injury or fatality as the most likely outcome and verify a direct control. Below it, energy can still injure.
Direct control: A direct control targets the energy source, prevents contact or release when installed, verified and used, and still works when someone makes a mistake. Training, signage and ordinary PPE alone are not direct controls.
