Battery connection
This card shows the energy in this activity and what to verify before starting. It's a reference, not a step-by-step procedure. The checklist below stays on this screen; nothing is saved or sent.
Connecting batteries works directly on terminals that cannot be de-energised, with arc and chemical exposure.
High-energy check
Treat battery connection as high energy at all times. Stored energy is present even when everything is switched off.
This task's main energy sources are not calculated by this tool. Use the trigger checks below and competent-person verification.
Trigger checks
-
Electrical
Current, voltage, energisation, arc flash or stored electrical energy.
-
Chemical
Harmful, reactive, flammable, corrosive or toxic substances.
-
Thermal
Heat, cold, flame, steam, sparks or thermal stress.
-
Battery systems
Battery strings cannot be switched off. Stored electrical energy, arc potential and chemical exposure are present at all times, and thermal runaway can propagate once started.
Direct controls to verify
Ticks stay on this screen only. Nothing is saved or sent.
For your SPA or pre-start
State the insulated tool and PPE requirement, the connection sequence, how tools and metal items are controlled and who supervises the work.
Limitations: This tool supports planning and verification only. It does not replace competent risk assessment, legal duties, employer procedures, client requirements or competent supervision.
