Battery strings cannot be switched off. Stored electrical energy, arc potential and chemical exposure are present at all times, and thermal runaway can propagate once started.

Metal items are removed from pockets and wrists.
Installed strings are treated as live at all times.
Terminal covers stay in place until connection is authorised.
